1) Hi,I have a macbook with snow leopard. I tried to change the short name displayed with the documents with the instruction on Apple website to create a new user account,but finally found it couldn't work. So I deleted that new user account and didn't find any serious warning. But after I did that, I found I lost everything in the documents and so on, and mac started to work like virus-affected. I only can turn off.But when I restart it, I found that I even lost bootcamp and office and everything,and it looked like just never used,but some shortcuts are still working. Please do help. 2) Early 2008 mac pro. Originally came with an 8800gt which started giving graphical glitches - vertical blue lines, graphics freezing etc then eventually refused to boot. Tested gfx card in another system and got the same symptoms so assumed a gfx card failure. Bought a new gtx285 from Apple which worked fine for 3-4 days until failing in nearly a very similar way.

The machine can then only be turned off by keeping the power button pushed down apple . The Laptop is roughly 2 years old and past warranty I was hoping

for some advice on the cost and time of repairing the machine or weather it is worth just cutting my losses and purchasing a new computer. I understand that

More Mac iPhone iPad Repair Questions

I was given a macbook about a2 years ago and about 2 months ago the screen went blank. The machine itself still seems to be working, I have put a music cd in the drive and it plays. My laptop has developed a apple fault with charging and I wish to discuss repairs. I have a problem with turning the computer on/off and putting it to sleep. It takes forever to reboot and turns off even when I click sleep. Once it does come back on it seems to be function as per normal—I think! For the time being apple  I just don’t turn it off. There’s some other things but let’s get this cleared up first. Screen is looking “grainy” and keep hanging after a few mins. Does not recognise 4 out of six ram modules. Tried everything I can think of but no luck apple Yorkshire . Seems that the touch / mouse pad has gone, but might need software cleaned out? Not an urgent job but needs repaired by end of the month ideally Harrogate . We are coming up to Eapple apple today (monday 8th march) so could drop it in this afternoon.  Please call me. Thanks After the Mac Book Pro 17″ (not the newest uni-bodied model,) was accidentally dropped there are several issues mainly to do with the hardware but also what I think is one software issue as well: The LCD screen has cracked and has Harrogate began  to leak. The keyboard and track pad have apple gone dead but the laptop was still functional through a USB keyboard and mouse for a time. The body of the case was dented and under this stress the hinge s forced the case to crack on the macintosh  LCD side of the laptops body. the laptop is now unable to free stand without being propped up at the base.t he laptop continued apple  to work for a while but recently when attempting to power the machine the mechanics can be heard starting inside but the start up software noise does not chime and the screen remains off.I have been loving my life ever since I got the iPad! I work as a flight attendant, so I am always traveling, which means that I'm spending quite a bit of time alone. People will often ask me how I do it, but I'm always plugged int o Facebook and e-mail to keep in touch with my friends and family. Just because I'm away for my friends and family doesn't mean that necessarily alone, but I just have to work to keep in touch with them to stay updated on what they are doing. They also like to hear what I am up to, so I can pose little updates on Facebook about what new city that I am in. Seriously, the best part about having iPad as someone who travels is that it keeps me entertained with delays. We all know how easy it is to struggle with airport delays, so as a flight attendant, I am no stranger to waiting. I often times have to sit around at a restaurant or coffee shop in an airport, but all I have to do is pull out my iPad to keep me entertained. At first, I was really paranoid about damaging my iPad during travel, especially since it was in my carry-on. I decided to make myself feel better and look up iPad repair options online to see how expensive iPad repair really would be. Of course, I found a top-rated iPad repair website that specialized in iPad repair, like screen replacement and enter components, so I felt pretty good about it. i just thought id email you im the person who brought the black macbook to you this afternoon,i thought id email you ,because i didnt leave you my name or number.il phone tomorrow about it hope its not too bad thankyou. I'm looking to see if you repair iTouch's... I've an iTouch and it's suddenly stopped picking up wifi signals... brought it to the Mac Shop in London and they say that its something they don't repair... If you don't repair them maybe you could let me know someone who does? I have a problem with my mac pro tower, the cd drive does not open! I also wish to install an airport card. I have purchased the card and awaiting its delivery. I have just purchased CS4 Creative master suite for it as well as Snow Leopard as its currently running Tiger. I would be happy if you could also install these software programs to to the Mac for me once the drive is functioning ... I would also like any sort of tune up or upgrades to get the best out of the machine as I am changing its use and will be using it for my business. Hi I have a disk stuck in the drive and would like it removing. How much will this cost? For the past 12 months I've not been able to play video e.g. You Tube or other clips on my G4 and as I'm a video producer it's driving me balmy. It used to play fine but no more. I use a separate G5 for my editing and this G4 for office and internet use. I have a grey plastic G4 tower M8493 model no. It had been getting reluctant to start, turning off during start-up and needing several attempts to start before it would stay on, although once on it would generally stay on (or could also be put to sleep and woken-up) without problem. It generally runs off Mac X on an external drive and has System 9 on an internal drive which I'd like to keep to run old software on occassion. It now won't start at all - the power light on the button works and, if I'm lucky, the fan may kick in briefly and the external drive fires up, but that's as far as it gets. I've tried replacing the internal battery but that's not worked. My guess is a faulty relay or similar somewhere on the power circuit.

The right hand hinge has broken. Apple shop say the display needs replacing and have quoted £380. Can you give me a quote? hi, need to replace my glass as its cracked top left side, how much will this cost and what time scale will i be looking at, i live in manchester. thanks darren.My son's imac has died! It has had a memory upgrade recently but has recently slowed down and then ground to a halt! Now it refuses to boot and when the "Snow Leopard" OSX disk is put in it freezes mid install and will sit for hours (literally) pretending to do something but getting nowhere. Any ideas??? I have an imac G4 and when i recently moved offices, it stopped working. It hasn't switched on since. I would like to know how much it would cost to diagnose and repair. Thanks. I believe the problem i have is a harware issue, but i could be wrong!The main problem seems to be the mac booting up. Often it loads up as far as the mac symbol appearing, and then it hangs and eventually a "prohibited" sybol appears, the fans kick in and I have to switch off by holding down the on button on the front of the mac.

It does sometimes actually manage to load up and work, but when it does, it had a tendency to crash, sometimes with the fans kicking in. On booting up again, it tends to show the "prohibited" sign - so it has become quite flaky! Last year I did have another problem with the system booting up, which lead to me having to have a new motherboard fitted at quite a lot of expense - so hopefully this isn't the problem again - although if it is, i will need to fish out the receipt for the motherboard, as I am hoping they are guaranteed for some time.

Please could you give me a quote of diagnosis, an idea of what the possible problem could be, and quote on likely cost of fix if it is a recognised problem? Hi, I have a Powermac that has had a bit of a beating whilst in transit. I've had a look inside - the hard drive connections and the wires used to connect to them have been smashed and will need fixing or replacing. I managed to get it working (by holding the wire connection against the hard drive connection) so everything else seemed fine. But could do with a check over. I'd be interested in seeing how much this would be to fix please. Would you be able to give me a rough idea of cost of replacing the hard drives and connections and checking over?
