Apple TV Repair

If your Apple TV seems to be frozen, it could be due to human error. Before you get upset and think that your awesome Apple TV is broken, check a few things out and see if you can find the problem first.
A few things that you should check first are to make sure the Apple TV is plugged in correctly and has not come loose. Then you want to make sure that it is in fact turned on. Check that your TV is on the c orrect setting for the Apple TV and that all the cables are connected correctly and tightly.
If the Apple TV is displaying photos while on the screensaver mode and it does not respond to the remote, this mean that it is not frozen. This means that your remote control is probably not functioning properly. You need to make sure that your remote is “paired” with your Apple TV properly. It is possible to program the Apple TV to only respond to one remote control so you should also make sure that you are using the correct remote control. If you see amber or white indicator light on the front of your Apple TV, but it is not responding to the remote you are using, then you probably have it “paired” to a different remote. Also make sure that your batteries in the remote are good and strong.
So we have determined that your Apple TV is in fact plugged in and all the connections are tight. We also now know for sure that your remote is not the problem, it is time to continue on and restart the frozen Apple TV. Sometimes the Apple TV will freeze up and that can be caused by the TV over heating or something like that.
To restart the Apple TV you need to get the remote and point it at the TV. You need to press and hold the Menu and Down button’s on the remote for 6 seconds. The status light should then blink amber in colour. When this happens the TV should do a reset automatically and you should see a screen that allows you to select “Restart”. The Apple TV should then restart and you can go from there.
If it does not restart yet, you then need to do a forced restart. To perform a forced restart you must unplug the Apple TV from the power source and wait about 15 or 20 second and plug it back in. You then need to get the remote and point it at the TV and press and hold the Menu and Down button again. This time you will hold the buttons down until the Apple TV has restarted at least 2 times. You should see a green flash on the screen when the it restarts. You should now be able to select Run Diagnostics from the screen that pops up. If there is a problem this test should tell you what it is. If the test says that there is nothing wrong with you Apple TV, you can then select the Restart option. If the test says something is wrong, or you feel the test result is wrong. Contact us here at macrepairs.co.uk
